K9 EDO
Our 2024 recipient
Serving on the Bridgewater, MA Police Department is K9 Edo and his handler Officer Christopher Rondeau. K9 Edo is a 5yr old Belgian Malinios/German Shepard mix, born in Slovakia and imported to Shallow Creek Kennels in PA in 2020. He is very impressive with his many skills and compliments his unit well. K9 Edo is dual trained in Patrol and Ballistics Detection. He is certified in Basic Patrol, apprehending suspects as well as searching for and tracking lost or missing children, elderly and endangered persons. K9 Edo has also been on SEMLEC SWAT for 2 years with Officer Rondeau, he can be used for building, area and evidence searches. His vest is his most important piece of equipment, with a special mount on the back to be used with a camera during SWAT activations and patrol work adding another layer of protection for everone he works with. Edo is pretty remarkable and we hope his vest protects him so he can protect others for years to come.

K9 METAL
Our 2023 recipient
K9 Metal is a German Shepherd who was born on January 1, 2022 in Hungary, Central Europe. In March of 2023, K9 Metal was purchased by Shallow Creek Kennels Inc., a privately owned and operated police service dog importing and training facility in the of western Pennsylvania. After Metal was selected as a match for K9 Deputy Tracey Manter , they began their 16 week K9 Patrol Academy. The training academy develops skills for tracking criminal suspects and lost individuals, performing building searches for criminal apprehension, and performing article searches for evidence. K9 Metal lives with K9 Deputy Tracey Manter at his residence in Hanson, Ma. and travels back and forth daily to work. Their primary responsibility is performing security checks of the Plymouth County Correctional Facility and responding to police departments in the county for assistance. Many local police departments do not have Patrol K9’s and rely on the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office for assistance. The members of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit are very grateful that Sheriff Joseph McDonald funds and supports this essential service to our county! On K9 Metals off days he enjoys playing fetch in the backyard chasing his rubber Kong bone and going for walks. He has become a wonderful addition to our family and to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 FOX
Our 2023 recipient
K9 Fox was our first recipient for a vest with MA VEST-A-DOG in 2022. Officer Rob Reidy and K9 Fox are from the Marshfield Police Dept. K9 Fox is a Belgian Malinios from the Czech Republic and Officer Reidy got him from Shallow Creek Kennel in Pennsylvania on March 30th. Fox is Officer Reidy's 2nd K9, his first dog is retired and lives with him. Fox was ready to start duty on July 22, 2022 after 4 months of training. Officer Reidy is also on the MetroLec SWAT team and has been for the past 7 years. They respond to barricades where suspects have weapons and it is not safe for a regular patrol unit to enter, unless it’s an active shooter situation. Officer Reidy wears a bullet proof vest on duty and when responding to SWAT calls Fox needed the same protection or he could deploy without it. The K9 Swat Vest is custom-fit body armor of choice for k9 units in over 35 countries. Every single Patrol Swat Vest is individually made to the K9's own unique measurements using a patented self-adjusting sizing kit process. It was truly an honor meeting Officer Reidy and K9 Fox. We hope this vest protects Fox and we thank you for your service.
